Sandra Oh joins the new BBC America series Killing Eve from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge

BBC America announced today that Sandra Oh (Grey’s AnatomySideways) has taken the lead role in the upcoming original scripted series Killing Eve. The show is an eight-episode drama from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Waller-Bridge will be seen next in the upcoming and as-yet-untitled Star Wars anthology film about Han Solo.

Killing Eve is a dramatic thriller revolving around a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down. It is a combination of brutal mischief making and pathos, filled with sharp humor, originality and high stakes action. It will debut in 2018.

Killing Eve is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd. Waller-Bridge said, “I am quivering with excitement about working with Sandra! I have been a huge fan of hers forever and am pinching myself that she is playing our Eve. She is going to be so badass in this role.” Sarah Barnett, BBC America President, commented, “Sandra Oh has the ability to go from wrenching to funny to total mess with a genius lightness of touch. Phoebe’s vision is absolutely original, and Sandra is utterly perfect casting we think for this key role.”

Sandra Oh is known for her work on the TV series Grey’s Anatomy, for which she’s received a Golden Globe, two Screen Actors Guild awards, and five nominations for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She’s appeared in films like SidewaysThe Princess Diaries and Under the Tuscan Sun.

Waller-Bridge is known for creating and starring in Fleabag, the series Crashing and The Cafe. In addition to the upcoming Han Solo film, Waller-Bridge will be seen in Goodbye Christopher Robin.
