A New York Times bestseller and New York Times “Notable Book of 2016,” Today Will Be Different offers the story of Eleanor Flood, who wakes up determined to be her best self, but then life happens. Taking place over a single day, it’s a rollicking portrait of one woman’s fumbling but valiant attempt to navigate the knotty perils and sly grace of modern life.

Roberts will also produce Today Will Be Different through her Red Om Films banner with Semple and Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle serving as Executive Producers. The series is a return to television for Roberts, who most recently starred in the HBO film The Normal Heart, and for Semple, who has also previously written for Arrested Development and Mad About You.

On the big screen, Julia Roberts recently lent her voice to Sony Pictures Animation’s Smurfs: The Lost Village and, last year, starred opposite George Clooney in Jodie Foster’s Money Monster. Coming up, she can be seen in Wonder, the new film directed by The Perks of Being a Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky. Lionsgate will release the film in theaters November 17.

Today Will Be Different also continues the relationship between Annapurna and Semple. On the feature side, the company is in pre-production on Where’d You Go, Bernadette, starring Cate Blanchett, Billy Crudup, and Kristen Wiig. Richard Linklater (Boyhood, Everybody Wants Some!!) is helming the adaptation.
