Netflix renews Grace and Frankie for season 4 and adds Lisa Kudrow
The Netflix series Grace and Frankie has been renewed for season 4. It’s also nabbed Friends star Lisa Kudrow as a recurring character. The fourth season of the show, starring Jane Fonda (Monster-in-Law, 9 to 5) and Lily Tomlin (I Heart Huckabees, 9 to 5), had been anticipated, but today it’s been made official via the show’s Twitter account. Lisa Kudrow will play Grace’s manicurist Sheree. The show’s fourth season has been in production for a while, meaning this renewal was a formality.
In Grace and Frankie,Fonda and Tomlin star as two women whose lives are suddenly turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other. Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, they form an unlikely bond to face an uncertain future together and discover a new definition of “family,” with laughter, tears and plenty of mood enhancers along the way.
The show is executive produced by Marta Kauffman, who also produced Friends, and Howard J. Morris (Home Improvement). The cast also includes Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael, and Baron Vaughn. A number of celebrities have appeared as guest stars including, Christine Lahti, Corbin Bernsen, Brian Benben, Nora Dunn, Rita Moreno and Peter Gallagher.
Tomlin was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the series. Lisa Kudrow became famous for playing the role of Phoebe Buffay in the NBC series Friends for ten seasons. She played Phoebe’s twin sister Ursula in the show Mad About You.
