Preacher Season 2 Premiere Date Set for June

AMC has announced today it has set the Preacher Season 2 premiere date for Monday, June 19 at 9 PM ET. The network also released six first-look photos (look below) from the new season. The expanded second season, consisting of 13 episodes, is a genre-bending thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

A panel for the series and its upcoming new season is scheduled to take place at SXSW this Saturday with executive producer Seth Rogen, executive producer and showrunner Sam Catlin, and co-executive producer and series creator Garth Ennis.

Deadline has also revealed that six new additions were made to the cast, including Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones,), Pip Torrens (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Crown), Julie Ann Emery (Fargo, Better Call Saul) Malcolm Barrett (War on Everyone, Dear White People), Ronald Guttman (Homeland, Mozart in the Jungle), and Justin Prentice (13 Reasons Why, Malibu Country). It’s not yet known who they will all be playing in the series, but with the show now picking up directly from the comic series’ first issue, they could be some fan-favorite characters.

Based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name, Preacher is a supernatural and darkly comedic drama that follows a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity called Genesis that gives him the power to make people do whatever he commands. Once this power attracts the attention of two mysterious angels, Fiore and DeBlanc, Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

Preacher was developed for television by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This is The End, Superbad, Neighbors) and showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad). The series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, with Ruth Negga as Tulip, and Graham McTavish as The Cowboy, aka The Saint of Killers.
