The upcoming NBC drama Redliners has cast Boss alum Hannah Ware in the lead role. The show is based on short stories by True Blood author Charlaine Harris, according to THR. In addition to the HBO series she’s known for, Harris has another NBC drama, Midnight, Texas, which recently went to series. The show is written by Emerald City executive producer Shaun Cassidy and comic creator Kelly Sue DeConnick (She Makes Comics).

Here is the official synopsis: “Based on short stories by best-selling author Charlaine Harris (True Blood, Midnight, Texas) comes a high-octane series that mixes humor, romance and espionage centering on a pair of former operatives who get reactivated and drawn into a larger conspiracy while attempting to maintain their undercover lives.”

Ware will star as Anne Dewitt, “a fiercely intelligent, formidably lethal, charmingly mysterious force of nature.” She’s an ex-teacher/trainer of assassins for The Service, a Blackwater-style security firm. Jason Ensler (Red Band Society) will direct the pilot, as well as executive produce along with David Janollari.

True Blood, the TV series based on Harris’ novels The Southern Vampire Mysteries, was given a number of awards including Outstanding Casting for a Drama at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards, and ran for seven seasons on HBO. Harris is known for her urban fantasy and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the American Crime Writers League. Hannah Ware is also known for her work in ShameOldboy, where she played Donna Hawthorne, Betrayal and Hitman: Agent 47.
