Michael Green to serve as showrunner for Y: The Last Man TV Series
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that American Gods co-showrunnner Michael Green has been tapped to serve as showunner for their comic book adaptation, Y: The Last Man. Green, whose other credits include Heroes and Smallville, will co-write the script for the pilot episode with series creator Brian K. Vaughn.
Y: The Last Man tells the story of Yorick Brown, a young man who, along with his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, somehow survives a catastrophic event that kills off every living creature with a Y chromosome. Left in a world of only women, Yorick teams with a government operative, 355, to try and uncover the truth about the plague and why he and he alone made it through alive. The series ran for 60 issues from 2002 to 2008.
Creator Brian K. Vaughan is no stranger to working in the realm of comics and TV, having previously worked as a writer on LOST and showrunning the adaptation of Stephen King’s Under the Dome on CBS. Vaughan currently pens the comics Saga and Paper Girls.
