Marvel’s Agent Carter Cancelled at ABC

A network update reveals Marvel’s Agent Carter cancelled by ABC

There’s some sad news today for Peggy Carter fans. Plans for the network’s 2015-16 television season today reveal Marvel’s Agent Carter cancelled at ABC. The Marvel Studios series, starring Hayley Atwell in the title role, ran for two seasons and a total of 18 episodes.

UPDATE: The trade has now updated their original story to reveal more bad news for Marvel fans. Marvel’s Most Wanted, the proposed Agents of SHIELD spin-off planned to star Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi Morse (AKA Mockingbird) and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter, will not be moving forward at the network either.

Hayley Atwell made her debut as Peggy Carter in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Since then, we’ve seen Agent Carter make appearances throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including in the Agent Carter Marvel One-Shot short film, as an octogenarian in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and at age 68 in last year’s Ant-Man. The Peggy Carter character also plays a key role in the hugely-successful Captain America: Civil War, in theaters now.

Given the resiliency and determination of the character, it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the last of Peggy Carter. Whether or not the series itself could continue in an alternate format remains to be seen. Hayley Atwell won’t be going far, either, as ABC has ordered her new series, Conviction.

The cast of Marvel’s Agent Carter season two also included Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Chief Daniel Sousa. Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood, Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost, Reggie Austin as Dr. Jason Wilkes, Currie Graham as Calvin Chadwick, Lotte Verbeek as Ana Jarvis, Lesley Boone as Rose, Ken Marino as mob boss Joseph Manfredi, and Kurtwood Smith as Vernon Masters.

Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Chris Dingess, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Joe Quesada, Stan Lee and Jeph Loeb were the series’ executive producers.
