“Eat me up, Scotty!” According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC has beamed Star Trek star Zachary Quinto aboard the third season of “Hannibal,” which will premiere on the network this summer.
Any “X-Files” fan who ever dreamed of Scully meeting Spock will sort of get their wish as Quinto will be featured in at least one episode as an assistant to Gillian Anderson’s Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, psychiatrist and colleague to cannibal Hannibal Lecter.
Currently co-starring on NBC’s “The Slap,” the busy Quinto will shoot his arc on “Hannibal” before heading to Vancouver, British Columbia this summer to reprise Spock in Star Trek 3. He is also playing The Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald in Oliver Stone’s Snowden, which began shooting this week.
“Hannibal” stars Hugh Dancy as expert criminal profiler Will Graham, who has a unique ability to peer into the mind of serial killers. Mads Mikkelsen stars as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a psychiatrist who is helping with the cases and is also a serial killer himself.
In addition to executive producer and writer Bryan Fuller, Martha De Laurentiis, Jesse Alexander, Chris Brancato, Sara Colleton, Katie O’Connell, Elisa Roth, Sidonie Dumas and Christophe Riandee also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Gaumont International Television, Dino De Laurentiis Company and Living Dead Guy Productions, and co-commissioned internationally by Sony Pictures Television Networks.
