Noble and Reddick Board Abrams’ Fringe

John Noble (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) has been tapped as one of the three leads in “Fringe,” Fox’s high-profile sci-fi drama from J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

The Hollywood Reporter says “The Wire” co-star Lance Reddick also has been cast in the project produced by Warner Bros. TV and Abrams’ Bad Robot.

The two-hour pilot, being directed by Alex Graves, centers on a young female FBI agent who is forced to confront the spread of unexplained phenomena and work with Dr. Walter Bishop (Noble), an institutionalized scientist whose work might be at the center of the coming storm.

Reddick will play Phillip Broyles, a special agent for Homeland Security who heads the special Fringe division, established to investigate a series of terrorist/paranormal events. (Tomas Arana had been erroneously confirmed as cast in the role).
