The CW Considering Arrow Spin-off Starring The Atom

The CW has had a lot of big announcements today at TCA including a premiere date for “iZombie,” a renewal for “Arrow” and “The Flash,” and even word of a digital animated series set in the continuity of those two shows. Now, CW President Mark Pedowitz has dropped another potential bombshell by revealing a second “Arrow” spin-off is being considered.

“You’d have to be judicious. Could there be another hour in that universe?” he said at the event (via EW). “Possibly. That’s why we’re in preliminary discussion. [The show] has to stand on its own legs.”

During the panel specific to “Arrow” and “The Flash,” executive producer Greg Berlanti was asked about a spin-off for Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer, AKA The Atom.

“We’re in very early talks in a very general idea that we haven’t gone deeper on yet,” he replied.

IGN later spoke to Routh himself about the prospect, to which he replied:

“With any character you bring on this show that’s a possibility, depending on how the fans react and the character is received and developed. You know they’ve shown with The Flash that just being a part of Arrow that it can work. It’s exciting. The sky’s the limit. DC and The CW have done a great job with the two shows and the platforms in terms being their own entities. What the future holds, who knows? But anything is a possibility.”

Routh made his debut as the character in the Season 3 premiere of the series and has gone on to play an integral role in many of the characters lives, including having a romantic fling with Felicity and buying Oliver’s company Queen Consolidated.
