The Baywatch reboot teaser just dropped and DC fans only have one thing to say about Stephen Amell. The Arrow star’s new beach role has fans flooding social media with the same Green Arrow joke after FOX revealed its first look at the upcoming revival.
Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen past follows him to Baywatch
FOX released the first teaser trailer for its Baywatch reboot on May 23. Stephen Amell, who plays Captain Hobie Buchannon, shared the clip on Instagram. The teaser features slow-motion shots of the cast running across beaches in action.
DC fans quickly drew connections between Amell and his iconic role as Oliver Queen on Arrow. One Instagram commenter wrote, “Oliver Queen on side quests.” Another referenced Queen’s famous catchphrase, writing, “You have failed this beach.”
The teaser also showcases other cast members in their signature red swimsuits. Brooks Nader appears walking on a dock at night as her character Selene. Livvy Dunne plays Grace and appears gazing dramatically into the distance on the beach. Jessica Belkin, who plays Hobie’s daughter Charlie, rushes across the sand carrying a rescue board.
Meanwhile, reactions on X reflected a mix of excitement and skepticism about the casting choices. One user noted the unexpected combination, calling it “Arrow meets social media’s biggest sports power couple.” Another user described the teaser as “already a disaster,” joking that Amell “went from Green Arrow to babysitting TikTok influencers.” A different user predicted the show would last only one season before cancellation.
Beyond the jokes, the Baywatch reboot stars Amell alongside Noah Beck, Livvy Dunne, Shay Mitchell, and Hassie Harrison. Additionally, original series stars David Chokachi and Erika Eleniak also join the cast. The show ultimately premieres in January 2027 on FOX, reviving the franchise that originally aired for 11 seasons from 1989 to 2001.
