The streaming service confirmed when the new season is expected to arrive and unveiled a brand-new poster. In addition, fans have received their first look at the characters who will lead the next standalone story.

Netflix has shared a major update on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, confirming that the anime will premiere in fall 2026 while unveiling the first four characters set to lead the new story. The announcement arrived alongside fresh key art, offering the first substantial look at the new faces who will lead the story.
Along with the release window, Netflix also introduced four of the characters who will headline the new story. According to Crunchyroll, Weak Kingsley is a former legend of Night City, but “now lives in the shadow of his former glory.” Meanwhile, D is described as a Snake Nation Netrunner with exceptional technical abilities whose “hunger for revenge” leads the search for the person responsible for wiping out the clan.
Roman Carax is presented as a young cinephile who is “obsessed with documenting the truth” in a city “that abandoned cinema for braindances.” On the other hand, Talia Yang “hails from the corpo towers… but her heart belongs to chrome and violence.” Season 2 will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, with Masahiko Otsuka serving as the screenwriter.
The new season is a standalone 10-episode story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Studio Trigger is returning to produce the anime, while Netflix has described it as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.” According to the official synopsis, “In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”
