During an interview with TV Insider, the creative team behind FROM has revealed that Season 5 will mark the series’ “endgame.” They also suggested that the long-awaited answers will have major consequences for the characters.
The discussion follows the events of the Season 4 finale, which dramatically changed the state of FROMville. In an order to end the town’s curse, the residents took the risky step of removing the bottle tree. However, instead of breaking the cycle, their decision triggered an even greater threat, leaving the town in chaos.
Discussing the direction of the story, creator and executive producer John Griffin said Season 4 was built around the idea that “knowledge comes at a cost.” He explained, “The show sort of shifted from what does this mean to how much is it going to cost us now that we’re beginning to understand.”
Looking ahead, Griffin said the final season can be defined by a single word, “endgame.” He added, “The goal of Season 4 was to really make sure the audience understood, we have entered a new phase, our characters have crossed the Rubicon, and from here on out, for better or for worse, this is the endgame.”
During the same interview, showrunner and executive producer Jeff Pinkner said the series was never meant to end by simply explaining everything. He explained that the priority has always been on exploring what happens after the answers are revealed. “The audience satisfaction is more in the journey of the characters, and once they have their answers, what are the consequences of the answers,” he said.
