Blood Sacrifice gets teaser trailer and release date
Netflix has released the first teaser for its upcoming Swedish crime thriller Blood Sacrifice and confirmed that the five-episode series will premiere on August 20, 2026. Previously titled The Case, the project is created by George Kay.
Set during the summer in Stockholm, the story begins when two police officers respond to a reported home invasion at a house in the archipelago. Although nothing appears to be out of the ordinary when they arrive, both officers are found murdered the following day. Their deaths become the first in a series of brutal killings that appear to be specifically targeting police officers, prompting an urgent investigation.
As the case grows increasingly complex, lead detective Thomas Berg turns to his estranged father, retired detective Alfred Berg, for help in tracking down the killer. Jakob Oftebro stars as Thomas, while Peter Andersson portrays Alfred. The ensemble cast also includes Electra Hallman, Alexander Abdallah, Henrik Norlén, Lisette T. Pagler, Magnus Krepper, Irina Björklund, Anders Mossling, and Anna Maria Käll.
Created, written, and produced by Kay, Blood Sacrifice is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm. The creator noted, “At its heart, Blood Sacrifice is a love story between an estranged father and son duo, whose work draws them back together – all wrapped up inside a dark, adrenalised Scandi noir crime drama.”
The series was filmed on location in Stockholm and the Stockholm archipelago. It is produced by B-Reel Films and Observatory Pictures in association with New Pictures. Johannes Åhlund and Ulf Synnerholm serve as producers. Meanwhile, Kay, Nyholm, Willow Grylls, and Matt Sandford are executive producers.
