Jalen Brunson has a new goal after leading the Knicks to an NBA title: a spot on SVU. Christopher Meloni likes the idea and says the Knicks star has what it takes. Brunson’s longtime admiration for the hit crime series is well known, and now support from some of the show’s biggest names is making the idea feel a little more realistic.
The Knicks star’s casting dream gets a response from Christopher Meloni
Fresh off helping the New York Knicks end a 53-year championship drought, Brunson revealed that one of his next ambitions has nothing to do with basketball. When asked what he wanted to do after winning the NBA Finals, the Finals MVP gave a simple answer that he wishes to try his luck in the SVU. “Try to go to SVU, Brunson shared.
That comment eventually reached Christopher Meloni. The actor, known for portraying Elliot Stabler across the Law & Order universe, was approached by TMZ Sports in New York and asked whether Brunson could pull off a guest role.
Meloni didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely,” he said before joking that a newly crowned champion can pretty much do whatever he wants. Meloni also pointed to Brunson’s determination, adding, “He’s got the force of will.”
The idea becomes even more interesting because Brunson already has ties to one of the show’s biggest stars. Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson, has been an avid supporter of the Knicks throughout their championship run.
She joined the team’s victory parade and spoke glowingly about Brunson’s influence on the city. According to Hargitay, Brunson represents New York’s toughness and resilience. She also praised his ability to unite fans across the city during the team’s historic season.
Their connection isn’t one-sided. Brunson has repeatedly spoken about being a fan of both Hargitay and the long-running crime drama. On The Richard Jefferson Show, he called Hargitay his favorite celebrity Knicks fan. He also shared on his own podcast that meeting her left him genuinely starstruck, admitting, “I’ve always loved that show.”
