‘Last Night, I Sucked’: Paget Brewster Apologizes to Criminal Minds Critic for Lashing Out

Criminal Minds star Paget Brewster issued an apology for criticizing a journalist. The latter recently published an article highlighting certain changes to the show. The actress took issue with the piece and publicly pushed back. After facing backlash, she deleted the post and issued an apology.

Paget Brewster says she ‘profoundly’ regrets her response to critic’s article on Criminal Minds

Paget Brewster, who portrays Emily Prentiss on Criminal Minds, took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologize to her followers and Screen Rant’s Shealyn Scott for “insulting” the journalist over the weekend.

Brewster’s post read, “Hi guys, I was mean to Shealyn Scott last night and I profoundly regret it. Shame on me for insulting a human being for doing their job. I’m very sorry, Shealyn. And I’m sorry to those who follow me that you saw me behave like that. Turns out, last night, I sucked.”

The actress’ apology comes after she slammed Scott, who published an article titled “Paramount+’s Criminal Minds Format Change Finally Backfires” highlighting the changes the show underwent after it transitioned from CBS to Paramount+ from Season 16. The journalist argued that some aspects of the show, now called Criminal Minds: Evolution, “feel more like downgrades.”

After the article was published, Brewster posted a message on X, directly addressing Scott. She wrote in the now-deleted post, “Hello critic Shealynn Scott. You’re young. You don’t know that bad pics and bad reviews can lead to 350 people losing their jobs. Sell vintage. Work at a shelter. Do something better than what you do now. Because right now you suck” (via Variety).

Brewster’s remarks immediately faced backlash. It seemed to make the actress realize her mistake, prompting her to publicly take back her words. Furthermore, Scott also said that the actress reached out to her personally to set things right.

Criminal Minds is currently airing its 19th season, with new episodes released every Thursday on Paramount+.
