Steven Spielberg’s Dinosaur TV Show Debuts on Netflix Today

After directing the first two Jurassic Park movies, Steven Spielberg‘s newest dinosaur project has finally been added to Netflix’s library. Beginning today, Spielberg’s four-episode documentary series The Dinosaurs is now available to stream on Netflix. This marks the acclaimed filmmaker’s latest collaboration with the streamer, after 2023’s Life on Our Planet.

What do we know about Steven Spielberg’s The Dinosaurs TV show?

“Welcome to The Dinosaurs — an epic journey into a lost world. From Amblin Documentaries and the award‑winning team behind Life on Our Planet, this groundbreaking documentary series follows the rise and fall of the dinosaurs across hundreds of millions of years,” reads the show’s official logline.

The Dinosaurs series hails from showrunners Dan Tapster, Keith Scholey, and Alastair Fothergill, with Nick Shoolingin-Jordan serving as its director. It features the voice of Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman as the narrator. This serves as the third time Freeman has narrated a Netflix docuseries, after 2022’s Our Universe and Life on Our Planet. The acclaimed studio Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) was responsible for the show’s stunning and incredible visuals.

According to Tudum, the docuseries will feature the Marasuchus, Plateosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Allosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex, Pliosaurus, Mosasaurus, Spinosaurus, Anchiornis, and Longipteryx. It was executive-produced by Spielberg, Scholey, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey. The creative team also included composer Lorne Balfe. It is a production by Silverback Films and Amblin Documentaries.
