Filming for Wednesday Season 3 seems to have started, according to a new update from one of the show’s crew members, helping to pinpoint a release date. The hit Netflix series, which has enjoyed robust viewership since its launch, scored a third season renewal ahead of Season 2’s release. Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the show is based on cartoonist Charles Addams’ character, Wednesday Addams.
Wednesday Season 3 could get a 2027 release date
Wednesday Season 3 is reportedly expected to come out sometime in 2027.
Jenny Ayumi Umbhau, Jenna Ortega’s stunt double on the show, recently shared a story on Instagram. It seemingly confirmed that Wednesday Season 3’s filming was underway. Notably, before this, Luis Guzmán, who stars as Gomez Addams in the series, shared in a Q&A at a fan event in November 2025 that production would begin in February 2026.
This update comes one month after Hunter Doohan, who plays Tyler Galpin on the show, revealed on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast that production on the show’s third season would begin soon. He also said that, like the previous seasons, production would take place for seven to eight months. In addition, Doohan mentioned that production would return to Dublin, Ireland, where Season 2 was shot.
Thus, based on Doohan’s information, production will likely take place until September-October 2026. The post-production process will then commence over subsequent months, making a 2027 release timeframe likely.
Wednesday Season 3 will continue expanding on the lore and characters established in the previous seasons. Co-creator Alfred Gough said that viewers “will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!” (via Tudum).
The story is expected to follow directly on from the shocking ending of Season 2. The ending sets up Wednesday’s deranged aunt, Ophelia Frump, who will be played by Eva Green, as the show’s next antagonist. It shows Wednesday having a vision of Ophelia, held captive by Grandmama Frump, writing three ominous words in her cell’s wall in blood, calling for her niece’s demise, “Wednesday Must Die.”
