A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Egg Actor Accidentally Spoils Dunk’s Fate

Just four episodes into its first season and Game of Thrones’ latest spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, already seems to have received a massive spoiler. In a recent interview, Dexter Sol Ansell, who portrays Prince Aegon ‘Egg’ Targaryen in the series, discussed the futures of his and Peter Claffey’s characters and revealed a crucial tidbit about Dunk’s fate.

The young actor divulged whether he was aware of the ‘Summerhall tragedy’ that takes place in A Song of Ice and Fire lore.

After admitting that he knows about the said event, Dexter Sol Ansell noted while speaking with Decider, “I don’t know about Peter, but I do know a bit about when Egg’s trying to make dragons in Summerhall, and then there’s a huge fire. But we know from George [R.R. Martin]…we know Dunk survives, but we don’t know if Egg survives yet.”

Realizing that his A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms co-star might’ve revealed a potential spoiler, Peter Claffey immediately gestured to the crew to “cut” the discussion. He then tried to divert the conversation by adding, “We don’t know exactly what’s happened, but let’s just get this Season 1 out of the way, and we’ll see.”

Notably, in George R.R. Martin’s books, the Summerhall tragedy refers to a huge fire that ends up killing Prince Aegon Targaryen, his son Duncan, and Ser Duncan the Tall. A Song of Ice and Fire theories suggest that Egg had attempted to wake up dormant dragon eggs by using wildfire, but ended up burning down the entire establishment, along with the people inside it.

This ending actually lines up with the prophecy viewers hear in Episode 3. However, Dexter Sol Ansell’s spoiler suggests that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms could deviate from this narrative by altering Dunk’s ending. The Egg actor inadvertently revealed that Ser Duncan will survive the events of the Summerhall tragedy in the show.

Meanwhile, more details about Dunk and Egg’s fate should follow in subsequent installments of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with HBO having already greenlit Season 2.
