A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms finally embraced its Game of Thrones roots in Episode 4, and viewers quickly noticed the shift. After several episodes of turning dramatic moments into jokes, the HBO spinoff used Ramin Djawadi’s famous theme without irony during Prince Baelor Targaryen’s entrance, prompting a wave of reactions online.
The series has repeatedly teased the iconic score since its premiere, often cutting it off with toilet humor. Episode 4 initially follows that pattern when Ser Duncan the Tall, played by Peter Claffey, addresses a crowd at Ashford Meadow while searching for one final fighter for his trial of seven. A man in the audience appears ready to step forward, but instead responds with a loud fart.
Moments later, the scene changes direction. Prince Baelor Targaryen, portrayed by Bertie Carvel and identified as the heir to the Iron Throne and Hand of the King, rides into the arena and declares that he will fight alongside Dunk. At that point, the full Game of Thrones theme begins to play, making it one of the most prominent scenes in the series so far.
Fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share reactions to the return of the franchise’s iconic music.
