Mike White shared a brief update on The White Lotus Season 4 during his return to Survivor for its milestone 50th season. The creator’s comments suggest a delay. Fans may be waiting longer than expected for the next installment of the acclaimed HBO series.
Mike White gives an update on The White Lotus Season 4
Mike White confirmed that writing for Season 4 of The White Lotus has not yet begun. “No, so after we play the game, I’m gonna start scouting for Season 4, so I don’t even know where it’s shooting,” he told TVLine.
Deadline reports that production will film the upcoming season at Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez, France. The new cast includes Chris Messina, Helena Bonham Carter, AJ Michalka, Alexander Ludwig, Steve Coogan, Marissa Long, and Caleb Jonte Edwards.
White said his decision to join Survivor 50 was based on timing. “Weirdly, if it had happened in any other time in the last five years, I just would not have been available,” he said. “But when they told me the dates, I was like, ‘I could actually do that.’”
“I love my show, obviously, and I’m excited to go back to it, but it’s nice to think about something else, do something different,” White added. “’Survivor 50′ is such a huge event for so many people I know… so I just felt like this was a party invite that was pretty exclusive and I was like, ‘I can’t pass this up.’”
He clarified he did not want to mix his professional life with gameplay. “I want a vacation, I want a break from White Lotus, I don’t wanna talk about White Lotus. I don’t wanna think about White Lotus.”
White previously finished as runner-up on Survivor: David vs. Goliath. He acknowledged that his profile has grown since then, saying, “It may come as some kind of negative… maybe. I don’t know.” He added, “There might be some White Lotus haters out there.”
Season 4 remains in early development, and location scouting will begin after Survivor 50 concludes.
