The Tomb Raider fandom is abuzz since Prime Video revealed the first look photo of Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft. She will play the iconic character in Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Chad Hodge’s Tomb Raider TV show, based on the namesake video game franchise. Previously, Angelina Jolie portrayed the titular protagonist in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003). Moreover, Alicia Vikander essayed the role in the 2018 reboot.

Understandably, the first official look at Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft has garnered a strong reaction from fans. An X (formerly Twitter) user with the handle @TheCrypticWolf announced that they were “actually looking forward” to the show. Meanwhile, @Nevil_XD noted, “That’s a strong first look. Curious to see Sophie Turner bring her own edge to Lara.”
According to @Benayahhh, the team behind the new Tomb Raider has “nailed it.” Furthermore, @NighthawkDelta shared, “She looks great. An actually much more believable physique for the lore in live action. She’s an incredibly talented actress, so this should be good.”
On the other hand, @victor_obiagor went a step further to claim, “This is easily the best live-action version of Lara holy s— this is insane… Jolie version doesn’t even come close.” Another fan, @nft_cryptogang, agreed with the sentiment, “Sophie Turner just made me forget Angelina ever existed.”

Expressing their skepticism regarding Sophie Turner’s portrayal of Lara Croft, @EndymionYT stated, “I’ll wait til I see a trailer at least.” Another user, @Lblaeyz21, said, “We ain’t watching that.”
At the time of writing, Sophie Turner’s Tomb Raider series doesn’t have a release date on Prime Video.
