Ryan Murphy and director Anthony Hemingway have responded to the early critical reaction to All’s Fair, the new Hulu show starring Kim Kardashian. The update comes as the show’s initial reviews sparked widespread discussion following its low Rotten Tomatoes score.
All’s Fair starring Kim Kardashian gets less than 10% on Rotten Tomatoes
Ryan Murphy’s latest Hulu legal dramedy All’s Fair, starring Kim Kardashian as attorney Allura Grant, has received a 6% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Out of 17 critic reviews, only one was positive, preventing the show from scoring 0%. The series holds a 64% audience score and premiered Nov. 4, 2025, on Hulu.
Critics described the show as poorly executed despite its high-profile cast, which includes Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, and Teyana Taylor. Lucy Mangan of The Guardian called it “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible.”
The Times’ Ben Dowell wrote that the show “thinks it’s a feminist fable… but is in fact a tacky and revolting monument to greed and vanity.” Angie Han of The Hollywood Reporter stated, “Kardashian’s performance, stiff and affectless without a single authentic note, is exactly what the writing merits.”
The sole positive review came from Joel Keller of Decider, who said the show “is over the top and campy as hell, but it also knows it’s both of these things.” Most other critics, including those from TIME, Vulture, and Sydney Morning Herald, criticized its tone, pacing, and characterization.
All’s Fair director responds to poor critic reviews
Director Anthony Hemingway responded to the backlash in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “You’re not going to please everybody… It’s entertainment, it’s a comedy.” He added that the show “holds a mirror up to each person who watches it” and that opinions might change over time.
All’s Fair follows an all-female Los Angeles law firm specializing in divorce cases. The first three episodes are streaming on Hulu, with new installments released weekly and a two-part finale set for Dec. 9.
