Iris: Tom Hollander & Niamh Algar Lead New Thriller Series from Luther Creator

Tom Hollander and Niamh Algar are set to star in Iris, an upcoming thriller series from Luther creator Neil Cross.

According to Deadline, the thriller focuses on the titular Iris. Described as a ruthless and enigmatic genius, Iris steals a code from the charming philanthropist Cameron McIntyre (Hollander) and then goes on the run. She’s armed only with her lethal intelligence, though she has her own charm to spare as she tries to figure out what exactly the code uncovers before her location is found. The series is planned to begin filming in Sardina later this month.

Where do you know Hollander and Algar from, and who else is in the cast?

Hollander recently appeared in The White Lotus Season 2, sharing the screen with Jennifer Coolidge in his role as Quentin, and played Truman Capote in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. His other credits include the HBO miniseries John Adams, in addition to movies such as Hanna, About Time, The Invisible Woman, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Algar recently appeared in the drama series Mary & George. She’s also known for her performances in shows like Pure, Raised by Wolves, Culprit, and Malpractice.

They’ll be joined in the cast by Meréana Tomlinson (The Trials), Sacha Dhawan (The Great, Doctor Who), Maya Sansa (Good Morning Night, Dormant Beauty), Peter Sullivan (Poldark, The Borgias), and Debi Mazar (Younger, Entourage).

The series hails from Cross, who’d previously created the BBC series Luther starring Idris Elba. It will be directed by Terry McDonough (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul). It’s a Sky Studios and Fremantle co-production, with Sarah O’Gorman also directing. Susan E. Connolly and Ian Scott McCullough wrote episodes of the series. Executive producers are Cross, McDonough, Dante Di Loreto, and Jenni Sherwood for Fremantle and Adrian Sturges for Sky Studios.
