The Gentlemen EP Confirms ‘Active’ Discussions About Potential Season 2 Renewal

More than a week since the series debut of The Gentlemen, Miramax Television boss Marc Helwig has addressed the possibility of getting a Season 2 renewal for the Theo James-led Netflix spin-off to the 2020 movie of the same name.

Speaking with Deadline, Helwig confirmed that he and creator Guy Ritchie have already started having “active” discussions about The Gentlemen Season 2. However, he admitted that the first installment will have to perform well on Netflix before they could formally begin the development of Season 2.

“We have started that process,” Helwig said. “There are some writers we’ve talked to, certainly lots of discussion with Guy about what he might want to do in a second season, what things to focus on. [Season 1] has to perform, and then we’ll know more, but it’s been an active ongoing discussion already what a second season would be.”

Who’s the cast of The Gentlemen series?

The Gentlemen series is created, written, and executive produced by Ritchie, who also directed the first two episodes. Joining James are Ray Winstone, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, Chanel Cresswell, Michael Vu, Max Beesley, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Dar Salim, Pearce Quigley, Ruby Sear, and Peter Serafinowicz.

“The spin-off sees Eddie Horniman (James) unexpectedly inherit his father’s sizable country estate — only to discover it’s part of a clandestine cannabis empire,” reads the logline. “Moreover, many unsavory characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation. Determined to extricate his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to play the gangsters at their own game. However, as he gets sucked into the world of criminality, he begins to find a taste for it.”
