NCIS Spin-off Featuring Original Stars Set at Paramount+

The NCIS franchise is expanding to streaming. Paramount+ announced a new NCIS untitled spin-off series starring Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo and Cote de Pablo as Ziva David. Weatherly, who left after Season 13, and de Pablo, who departed after Season 11, will share the screen for the first time in 10 years.

The official synopsis of the spin-off: “After Ziva’s supposed death, Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Since then – and where we find them in the new Paramount+ original series – Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”

Who is Involved in the NCIS Spin-off?

John McNamara (Trumbo, The Magicians), who wrote the premiere episode, serves as the showrunner. The spin-off received a 10-episode order, with production expected to start later this year. McNamara, de Pablo, and Weatherly will executive produce alongside Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, and Shelley Meals. Paramount Global Content Distribution will distribute the spin-off.

“I’m incredibly excited to step into the NCIS universe with Cote and Michael and thrilled to explore it from a few new angles,” McNamara said in a statement. “Given that the franchise is such a global sensation, I think it’s phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the greenlight to shoot in Europe. As to the title of this series, if I told you what it is, I’d be violating the Espionage Act.”

The Tony DiNozzo-Ziva David series is the second NCIS spin-off ordered this year. In January 2024, CBS gave a straight-to-series order for NCIS: Origins, a prequel series starring a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

NCIS has been one of CBS’s top franchises for nearly two decades. The 21st season of NCIS began airing earlier this month on CBS. NCIS will celebrate its 1,000 episode across the franchise later this spring. Since Paramount+’s inception, the NCIS franchise has been among the top five franchises on the service in hours consumed.
