Community movie update

Joel McHale’s Comedy Animal Control Will Feature Community Reunion

The Joel McHale-led comedy Animal Control will feature a Community reunion in Season 2, as Ken Jeong is set to guest star on the Fox series. Jeong, who played Ben Chang on Community, will play Lee Park in Animal Control Season 2. Park’s “well-respected, moderately unhinged dog whisperer”, per Deadline.

Other guest stars are Sarah Chalke (Scrubs) as Yazmin, whom McHale’s main character Frank sees as the one that got away. Krystal Smith (Welcome to Flatch) will recur as Bettany, the tough assistant of Emily (played by Vella Lovell). Animal Control Season 2 premieres March 6 on Fox.

Jeong and McHale are both set to return for Peacock’s upcoming Community movie, as are Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Danny Pudi, and Donald Glover. The movie does not currently have a release date.

What to know about Animal Control

“Animal Control follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not,” per an official description. “McHale stars as Frank, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals. Humans…not so much.”

Created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, and Dan Sterling, the comedy has the distinction of being Fox’s most-streamed debut in network history, and the most-streamed comedy episode ever in the network’s history. Along with McHale and Lovell, the cast of characters includes Michael Rowland as Fred “Shred” Taylor, Ravi Patel as Amit Patel, and Grace Palmer as Victoria Sands.

Animal Control is produced by FOX Entertainment Studios and executive-produced by Bob Fisher (Wedding Crashers, Sirens, The Moodys), Rob Greenberg (Frasier, How I Met Your Mother, The Moodys), Dan Sterling (Long Shot, The Interview, Girls, The Office, King of the Hill), Tad Quill (Scrubs, The Moodys) and McHale. The series is distributed by FOX Entertainment Global.
