Law & Order Season 23 Cast: Reid Scott Joins as Series Regular

The upcoming 23rd season of the police procedural drama Law & Order will be joined by a new NYPD detective. Actor Reid Scott (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) has joined the NBC show’s cast as the newest series regular.

Details about the actor’s NYPD detective character — including the name —  remain under wraps. He will join the show right after Jeffrey Donovan’s Detective Frank Cosgrove left the show due to “creative differences.” Donovan appeared in Seasons 21 and 22 of Law & Order.

This wasn’t the first time the show had a major change in the cast, especially in the detective role. Before Donovan graced the series as Detective Frank, Anthony Anderson reprised his Detective Kevin Bernard role and left after Season 21. He was then succeeded by Mehcad Brooks in Season 22 as Jalen Shaw.

Produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, the forthcoming 23rd season of Law & Order will premiere on January 18, 2024.

Law & Order is an addition to Reid Scott’s impressive television portfolio

Having recently starred in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the actor is best known for his role as Dan Egan in HBO’s political comedy Veep. He also starred as Bobby O’Neil in the ABC sitcom It’s All Relative and played Brando Dorff in the TBS sitcom My Boys. His other television credits include The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Big C, Why Women Kill, and — most recently — American Horror Stories: Delicate.

On the film side, Scott has appeared in Amusement, Beside Still Waters, Slow Learners, Dean, Venom, Late Night, and Wildflower, among others.
