The Sandman Season 2 Reportedly Casts Destruction Actor

The Sandman Season 2 may have found its actor for a potentially huge role, as Redanian Intelligence is reporting that an actor has been found for Destruction.

According to the report, Barry Sloane — known for his role as Captain John Price in the Call of Duty video game franchise — has been eyed to play the role of another member of The Endless.

Who is Destruction in The Sandman?

The mythology of The Sandman involves seven immortal beings known as the Endless, each one of whom personifies a different aspect of life. The series centers on Dream, portrayed by Tom Sturridge. Season 1 also introduced his older sister Death (Kirby Baptiste), younger sister Despair (Donna Preston), and non-binary sibling Desire (Mason Alexander Park). Gaiman has confirmed that the youngest of the Endless, Delirium, will appear in Season 2, although her actor has not yet been announced. Destiny, the oldest, is also expected to show up.

Destruction has been referred to as “the prodigal,” as he abandoned his post long ago and dropped all contact with his siblings. However, his presence in Season 2 would not necessarily indicate anything about the order of the narrative, as he may be in flashbacks only. In the comics, he is portrayed as a very tall and muscular man with a friendly personality.

The Sandman stars Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter) as Dream, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong (The Witches) as Lucienne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Killing Eve, Cruella) as Death, Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille) as Matthew the Raven, Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Johanna Constantine, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall, Kyo Ra as Rose Walker, and Sandra James Young as Unity Kincaid.
