Ms. Marvel Directors Say Season 2 Will Depend on The Marvels’ Outcome

In an interview with The Playlist, Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah teased their potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The filmmaking duo seemingly confirmed that Marvel Studios is waiting for the outcome of Nia DaCosta’s upcoming The Marvels movie before Ms. Marvel Season 2 can move forward.

“We’re waiting for The Marvels, so that will decide what the next step will be,” said El Arbi. “So we’re very much looking forward to that. I can’t wait to see it, man. It’s great to see the trailers and to see the whole family back there and Iman Vellani doing great work, so looking forward to that.”

Iman Vellani’s MCU Journey

Newcomer Iman Vellani made her acting debut in Disney+’s Ms. Marvel series, where she portrayed the role of Kamala Khan. In the coming-of-age dramedy, Kamala was introduced as a Captain Marvel and Avengers super fan who suddenly gained powers after wearing her great-grandmother’s mysterious magical bangle. Vellani will next be seen in her first feature-length movie The Marvels, starring opposite Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau.

“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence,” reads the synopsis for The Marvels. “But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”
