Julia Season 2 Gets Max Premiere Release Date

Julia Season 2 gets a premiere date at Max, as the dramedy series will debut with three episodes on Thursday, November 16. The eight-episode season will then switch to a weekly release schedule through the finale on Thursday, December 21.

What’s Julia Season 2 About?

“With her show up and running on the air, and with a weekly cooking program virtually unheard of at the time, Julia grapples with her rising fame and celebrity,” per the official synopsis. “After spending some much needed time in France while preparing for her second season [of The French Chef], Julia visits a wide variety of renowned restaurants and chefs across both the South of France and the U.S in Washington D.C. and of course, Boston. Social issues prevalent in today’s social landscape are mirrored in Julia’s journey as she and her team spearhead female-driven public television.”

Series regulars include Sarah Lancashire (Julia Child), David Hyde Pierce (Paul Child), Bebe Neuwirth (Avis DeVoto), Brittany Bradford (Alice Naman), Fran Kranz (Russ Morash), Fiona Glascott (Judith Jones), and Robert Joy (Hunter Fox).

Returning guest stars include Judith Light (Blanche Knopf), Isabella Rossellini (Simone ‘Simca’ Beck), Tosin Morohunfola (Isaac), and Christian Clemenson (James Beard). Rachel Bloom, known for her leading role on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, joins the series as the powerhouse director Elaine Levitch who comes to WGBH from CBS. Stockard Channing (The West Wing) and Craig Bierko (UnREAL) also make appearances.

Chris Keyser serves as showrunner, as well as executive producer alongside creator Daniel Goldfarb. Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment, Kimberly Carver, Donna E. Bloom, Charles McDougall, and Erica Lipez executive produce. Todd Schulkin serves as a consulting producer on behalf of The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts. The project hails from Lionsgate and 3 Arts Entertainment.
