The Conjuring TV Show in Development at Max

The Conjuring TV Show in Development, Peter Safran & James Wan to EP

Warner Bros. Discovery announced on Wednesday that it is developing a drama series set in The Conjuring movie universe.

The as-of-now untitled series will be executive produced by longtime The Conjuring producer Peter Safran, with filmmaker James Wan also in talks to executive produce. The series will stream on the newly rebranded Max.

The show will be based on the long-running horror franchise and will “continue the story established in the feature films.” No official casting or plot information has been released as of yet, however.

The Conjuring universe is comprised of seven films to date, the latest being 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The franchise is best known for its two stars, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, as well as the Annabelle films, which feature a creepy, possessed doll.

The next entry in the franchise will be The Nun 2, which is currently set to premiere on September 8, 2023. In total, the franchise has grossed more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office and has become one of the biggest horror properties.
