Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld: Netflix Sets Voice Cast for Supernatural Series

Netflix has officially announced their newest 2D animated series titled Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld, which hails from long-time collaborator Ali Wong. It will also be led by Wong as she portrays the titular role of Asian-American teen Jentry Chau who uses her supernatural abilities to fight monsters.

Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld will also feature the voices of Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Lori Tan Chinn (Awkwafina is Nora From Queens), Lucy Liu (Kung Fu Panda films), Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians), Sheng Wang (The Comedian), and Woosung Kim of the South Korean rock band The Rose.

“The series follows Jentry Chau, a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress,” reads the logline. “With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.”

The series is created and executive produced by Echo Wu. It is produced by Wong, Aron Eli Coleite, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina with Titmouse as its animation studio.

Before landing the upcoming series, Wong previously lent her voice in a number of shows including BoJack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, Big Mouth, and Human Resources, as well as films like Ralph Breaks the Internet and The Angry Birds Movie. The comedic actress will next be seen in another Netflix project in the form of the A24’s Beef series with Oscar nominee Steven Yeun.
