Peacock’s Bel-Air Series Scores Early Season 3 Renewal

Peacock has officially renewed Bel-Air for a third season. The early renewal comes after nearly a month since the drama’s Season 2 premiere, which set a new record as streamer’s most-watched original sophomore series to date. New episodes premiere every Thursday until its season finale on April 27.

Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral video of the same name, Bel-Air reimagines the iconic sitcom as a modern-day drama. It is co-written and directed by Cooper, who is also set as an executive producer.

Bel-Air Season 2 picks up with Will at a crossroads as a new figure comes into his life who challenges what he’s learned in Bel-Air and competes for control of his influence,” reads the synopsis. “He juggles this while navigating his home life with the Banks family and trying to rebuild the trust that was broken at the end of last season. We’ll see Will and Carlton’s brotherhood start to evolve as they grow closer but still challenge each other about their differences. We’ll also see Hilary evolve as she becomes more of a boss in her influencer world and how that spills over into her relationship with Jazz, and also highlight the relatable struggles around Viv and Phil balancing marriage and family while trying to forge their own career paths and reconnect to the things that are important to them.”

The reboot stars Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes (V Wars) as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman (Atlanta) as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan (Evolution of Nate Gibson) as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones (Vampires vs. The Bronx) as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar (Captain Marvel) as Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola (Most Dangerous Game) as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones (Snowfall) as Jazz, and Simone Joy Jones (The Chair, What If) as Lisa.

Bel-Air is executive produced by T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson, who are serving as showrunners. It is a production by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios. Will Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Malcolm Spellman, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and original creators Andy and Susan Borowitz are executive producing.
