In a now-deleted Instagram post, stunt coordinator George Cottle confirmed that production on Lucasfilm’s upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has finally been completed. The coming-of-age sci-fi drama is expected to make its debut sometime this year.
“That’s a wrap on Skeleton Crew!” Cottle wrote on Instagram (via Deadline). “Once again I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the most amazing stunt performers I have ever worked with! I feel so lucky to work with you all! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication! So so excited for this one!”
Further confirming the completion was an Instagram story by stunt actor Juliana Potter. “Going to miss my Star Wars: Skeleton Crew stunt family. So grateful,” wrote Potter. “Can’t wait for the world to see what’s in store.”
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is created and executive produced by Jon Watts and scribe Christopher Ford, who previously worked together on Spider-Man: Homecoming. Led by Oscar nominee Jude Law, the series will take place during the events after Return of the Jedi. Inspired by the classic Amblin films of the 80s, the project previously had the working title of Grammar Rodeo, which is a nod to a Simpsons episode featuring Bart running away for a week with a stolen car.
The series is also executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy. Law will be joined by a young cast consisting of children between 11 and 12. There are currently no announcements yet regarding the identity of the rest of the leading cast.
Apart from Skeleton Crew, Watts is also currently on another high-profile film in the form of an untitled thriller starring Oscar winners George Clooney and Brad Pitt. He’s also set to produce the sixth installment of Final Destination for HBO Max.
