What Are the Critics Saying about Launchpad Season 1?

There is no official critic rating for Launchpad. The series, however, has a user score of 6.6/10 on IMDB. The short “Growing Fangs” has especially impressed the reviewers.

Josh Spiegel from Slash Film writes, “All six of the shorts are effectively constructed by their respective filmmakers, and perhaps most surprisingly, they don’t all end with a traditional, overly familiar happy ending that often feels like a mandate for Disney stories.”

Kristen Yoonsoo Kim from The New York Times says, “There’s definitely a lot of promise here. These films, all 20 minutes or shorter, mostly come from minority filmmakers and explore non-American traditions and L.G.B.T.Q. themes — themes that I wish were more prevalent, or at least more sensitively handled, in Disney’s bigger releases.”
