The Acolyte: Jodie Turner-Smith Joins Amandla Stenberg in Star Wars Series

According to Deadline, Queen & Slim actress Jodie Turner-Smith has officially entered final negotiations to join Lucasfilm’s newest Star Wars series for Disney+ The Acolyte. She will be joining previously announced lead star Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games). Production is set to begin this late fall in London.

Besides the upcoming Disney+ series, Turner-Smith will also next be seen in films such as Noah Baumbach’s dark comedy White Noise, the political thriller The Independent, and the Netflix mystery comedy sequel Murder Mystery 2.

The Acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers that will be set within the final days of the High Republic era. Further details about its characters haven’t been revealed yet, but the project title references a Sith in the beginning stages of their training under an experienced Sith Lord.

The Disney+ series will be written and executive produced by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who will also be serving as the showrunner. Production is expected to begin in mid-2022.

In addition to The Acolyte, Lucasfilm is also currently developing a number of Star Wars projects including The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian Season 3, Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Cassian Andor series, and more.
