Previously, the series was reportedly in the works at Amazon, with no official reason given as to why the series was moved, with Paramount giving no official comment as of now. The series is being adapted for television by Davey Holmes (Get Shorty), with both Holmes and Cage executive producing the project as well.

Highfire comes from Irish author Eoin Colfer, who also wrote the hit Artemis Fowl series, and tells the story of a vodka-loving dragon who lives in isolation in the bayous of Louisiana. The novel follows the story of the dragon and his many adventures in the world. Cage is currently still attached to lend his voice in the starring role of the dragon, although not much else has been confirmed as of yet.
