According to The Hollywood Reporter, Howard is set to return to The Mandalorian, where she’ll direct an episode of the highly anticipated third season. This will mark Howard’s fourth directing role within the Star Wars universe, as she’s already directed two episodes of The Mandalorian (Season 1’s “Sanctuary” and Season 2’s “The Heiress”), and has also directed the critically acclaimed “Return of the Mandalorian” episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

The outlet also states that Dave Filoni will direct a “handful” of episodes of the Rosario Dawson-led Ahsoka series. This is a return to the character for Filoni, who directed the character’s first appearance in the film Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Filoni also directed the character in The Clone Wars series, Star Wars Rebels, and her debut appearance in The Mandalorian.

The third season of The Mandalorian began production last year and was recently given a February 2023 release date during the opening day of Star Wars Celebration. The show recently wrapped production on its third season, which is set to continue the adventures of Din Djarin (Pablo Pascal), a Mandalorian warrior. Pascal’s character also recently appeared throughout the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett.

The Star Wars series is being led by Pedro Pascal as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Before the new season, Pascal’s Din Djarin previously appeared in last year’s The Book of Boba Fett spin-off. As of now, Carl Weathers and Gian Carlo Esposito are the only returning cast members confirmed for the third season. Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd has also joined the upcoming new season for a guest-starring role.

The Mandalorian hails from executive producers Favreau, Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. Favreau is also set as the showrunner and one of its directors.
