Rumor: Live-Action Captain Carter Project in Development

In a recent episode of The DisInsider Show‘s “Rumor of the Week” segment, Derek Cornell has claimed that Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a live-action Captain Carter project, which is either a film or a series.

Should this rumor be proven true, Marvel Cinematic Universe alum Hayley Atwell would surely be attached to reprise this badass version of Peggy Carter, a character that was first introduced in the What If…? series. Most recently, Atwell portrayed another version of Captain Carter in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, marking the character’s live-action debut. However, it is understood that this wasn’t the same Peggy Carter variant that was first seen in the Disney+ animated series.

“Hot off of Doctor Strange 2 and What If…?, we are hearing not for sure if it’s a series, but we’re hearing [of] a Captain Carter live-action series,” Cornell shared (via Murphy’s Multiverse). “Series or movie, but something is in the works, live-action will be coming.”

Atwell has been playing Peggy Carter since 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger. After that, she has appeared in five MCU films, as well as in the solo TV series Agent Carter, which only ran for two seasons.

The British actress will next be seen starring opposite Tom Cruise in the forthcoming final two installments of the Mission: Impossible films. She will also be lending her voice to Netflix’s anime adaptation of Tomb Raider.
