Mel Brooks History of the World

Report: History of the World: Part II Gains Huge List of Guest Stars

Hulu’s History of the World: Part II is a continuation of the 80s cult classic, extending out the running time from a feature-length film to an eight-episode smorgasbord of the type of off-the-wall humor that Mel Brooks is known for. We already know that Nick Kroll, Ike Barinholtz, and Wanda Sykes have all signed up as writers and co-stars, but any proper follow-up to the original will have to have a fully decked-out and star-studded cast. According to a report by Jeff Sneider of The Ankler, Brooks is lining up quite the chorus line of familiar faces for his historical farce.

Beyond the trio of writers, Ankler has revealed a good chunk of the confirmed cast. This includes Daily Show alum Rob Corddry, Seth Rogen, and J.B. Smoove. There’s no news on who these actors will play, but a few other offers included specifics on characters that will appear in the miniseries. As far as specific roles go, the report states that Adam Sandler has been offered the part of Joseph Stalin, Jay Ellis is up to don the robes of Jesus Christ, and Jack McBrayer is in consideration for Robert E. Lee.

Other actors up for unspecified roles and cameos, but not yet confirmed, include everyone from comedy legends like Steve Martin and Martin Short to director Taika Waititi and sports commentator Pam Oliver. These are all offers that may or may not have been accepted, so don’t get your hopes up on any one particular name.

History of the World: Part II is set for release on Hulu once production wraps up, and they’ll be plenty of news before then about who is and isn’t heading into the history books.
