Harrison Ford Joins Jason Segel’s Apple TV+ Comedy Series Shrinking

Oscar nominee Harrison Ford has officially finalized negotiations to star opposite Jason Segel in Apple TV+’s forthcoming comedy series Shrinking, which is from Ted Lasso’s Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein. In his first major TV role, Harrison Ford will be playing the role of Dr. Phil Rhodes, described as a blunt, “blue-collar shrink.”

“Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who has built a successful practice over the years that he shares with his two young proteges, Jimmy and Gaby,” reads his full character description (via Deadline). “Fiercely independent, Phil has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which forces him out of his comfort zone as he grapples with intrusive friends, his estranged family and his legacy.”

Shrinking will be a 10-episode comedy written and executive produced by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, wither Lawrence set as the showrunner. The series will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Lawrence’s studio-based Doozer Productions.

“It follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks,” reads the synopsis. “Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives…including his own.”
