Arrowverse EP Involved in Jensen Ackles’ Secret DC Project

Jensen Ackles recently teased that he was involved with a super-secret project at DC, and according to a recent listing for the 2022 SXSW convention, Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti is involved too.

Recently, the schedule for the annual SXSW convention in Austin, Texas released online, and on Ackles’ actor page, he’s listed as “developing an Untitled DC Project with Greg Berlanti.” Naturally, this has led to speculation that Ackles could be working on his own DC television show for The CW.

Berlanti’s history as a producer is long and extremely successful, having worked on the hit series Dawson’s Creek, Brothers & Sisters, Everwood, Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Netflix’s You, to name a few. However, Berlanti is most likely best known for overseeing many of The CW’s “Arrowverse” television shows, including Arrow, Titans, and Doom Patrol.

The development comes just a couple of weeks after Ackles teased that there was a DC property currently in development that the actor had his “fingers crossed” for.

“Well, there is a DC property that’s currently developing with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I’ve got my fingers crossed for,” Ackles said at the time. “But again, I’m not going to talk about it. Because you don’t want to jinx it.”

Prior to whatever this new property will be, Ackles appeared as Jason Teague in the fourth season of The CW series Smallville, and has even voiced various DC superheroes, including Jason Todd — a.k.a. the Red Hood — in the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood, and Batman himself in both parts of Batman: The Long Halloween.
