The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

Prime Video has officially renewed Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino’s hit comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for a fifth and final season, which is currently in production in New York City. The Rachel Brosnahan-led acclaimed series is slated to return tomorrow for its fourth season, with two new episodes dropping every Friday for four weeks.

“Amy, Dan, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel have blazed an unparalleled path, elevating the stories we tell about women, challenging the norms in our industry, and forever altering the entertainment landscape with their one-of-a-kind storytelling,” Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “The dozens of awards cement Maisel’s legacy in many ways, but what’s even more enduring and poignant are the characters Amy created and the joyous, brilliant, singular world she and Dan brought to life. This series has meant so much to Prime Video and the effects of its success will be felt long after its final season. I can’t wait for fans and our worldwide Prime Video audience to savor each moment as we embark on the culmination of this groundbreaking and unforgettable series.”

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, Tony Shalhoub as Midge’s father Abe Weissman, Alex Borstein as Susie Myerson, Michael Zegen as Midge’s husband Joel Maisel, and Marin Hinkle as Midge’s mother Rose Weissman.

“In Season 4, it’s 1960 and change is in the air,” reads the logline. “Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft—and the places it takes her—creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her.

The new season will also feature the addition of Gilmore Girls alums Milo Ventimiglia and Kelly Bishop who have both signed on for guest-starring roles, reuniting them with series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. John Waters, and Jason Alexander are also set to guest star.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is written and directed by renowned creator Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) and executive producer Daniel Palladino (Family Guy). The series has already won 20 Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes including Outstanding Comedy Series.

The first three seasons are already available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
