Winning Time Posters Set Premiere Date for HBO’s Lakers Series

HBO has finally set the premiere date for Adam McKay’s forthcoming biographical sports dramedy Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. Starring John C. Reilly and newcomer Quincy Isaiah, it is now scheduled to make its debut on Sunday, March 6 on HBO and will be available for streaming on HBO Max.

The date announcement also comes with the released of the Winning Time posters, which you can check out below, giving us a new look at the main characters including Isaiah, Solomon Hughes, and Sean Patrick Small’s respective portrayals of NBA legends Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Larry Bird.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty is written and co-created by Max Borenstein, and Jim Hecht, who are also executive producing. The story will be based on Jeff Pearlman’s book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s.

“A fast-break series chronicling the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, one of sports’ most revered and dominant dynasties – a team that defined an era, both on and off the court,” reads the logline.

The sports drama stars John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffman, Tracy Letts, Jason Segel, Julianne Nicholson, Hadley Robinson, Dr. Solomon Hughes, Tamera Tomakili, Brett Cullen, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Joey Brooks, Sarah Ramos, Spencer Garrett, Molly Gordon, DeVaughn Nixon, Delante Desouza, Jimel Atkins, Austin Aaron, Jon Young with Rob Morgan, Sally Field and more.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty is executive produced by Adam McKay and Kevin Messick for Hyperobject Industries, with McKay also directing the pilot. Jason Shuman, Scott Stephens, and Rodney Barnes are executive producing.
