Monday was the first day of work following the holiday break, according to the outlet, which adds that Picard consists of one of television’s biggest crews with more than 450 on staff. The infections apparently impacted “multiple zones, including cast in zone A.” Production on the series has been shut down since Monday. THR’s sources say that filming is expected to resume early next week, though details have not yet been confirmed.

The series was renewed early for a third season back in September ahead of its Season 2 premiere scheduled for February 2022.

Star Trek: Picard tells the next story of Picard’s life, which takes place after the events of Star Trek: Next Generation. The series is led by Sir Patrick Stewart as he returns to the Star Trek Universe to reprise one of his most iconic roles as Jean-Luc Picard. Joining him are returning franchise alums including Brent Spiner as Data and Star Trek: Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine. It also stars Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, and Orla Brady.

In addition to John de Lancie, the second season will also feature the return of EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg as she is expected to reprise her role as Guinan after she was personally invited to guest-star in the new season by Stewart when he appeared in The View last year. The new season will also feature Annie Wersching as the Borg Queen.
