The Witcher Season 2 Tops Netflix List with Over 140 Million Hours Streamed

According to Deadline, the long-awaited second season of Netflix’s The Witcher has made a successful return as it instantly leads the streamer’s top ten list. Netflix has confirmed that the popular action fantasy series’ 8-episode second season has already been streamed for 142 million hours during its first three days. Because of this, the first season also gained traction as it reached the number two spot with 49 million hours streamed.

“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen,” reads The Witcher Season 2 synopsis. “While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”

The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Season 2 introduced a handful of new characters portrayed by Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones), Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve), Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders), Yasen Atour (Young Wallender), Agnes Bjorn, Basil Eidenbenz (Fast and Furious 9), Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl), Mecia Simson (Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model), and more.

Based on the stories and novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is created and executive produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who also serves as the showrunner. Sean Daniel and Jason Brown of Sean Daniel Company executive produce along with Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Image.
