Paramount+’s Rugrats Revival Gets Season 2 Renewal Ahead of October Return

Paramount+ has officially renewed Nickelodeon Animation Studios’ CG-animated Rugrats revival for a second season.

The renewal comes ahead of the series’ upcoming return next month on October 7,  which will see the release of the second half of the first season. New episodes will also include a Halloween-themed special where the titular gang attempts to help save Angelica after she turns into a werewolf at a scary Halloween party as their parents seem to disappear one by one.

“Kids series are a key driver of engagement for Paramount+,” Paramount+’s Chief Programming Officer, Tanya Giles said in a statement (via Deadline). “With the renewal of Rugrats for a second season, we look forward to bringing even more adventures with Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and the rest of the Rugrats for kids and families to enjoy.”

Nickelodeon Animation President Ramsey Naito added, “This next season of Rugrats will dive even deeper into the secret life of babies and their unsuspecting parents, while continuing to highlight the main themes of friendship and family. For 30 years, the Rugrats have resonated with fans around the globe and we can’t wait to continue telling original and fresh stories with these beloved characters.”

The CG-animated series is executive produced by Eryk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier, along with Dave Pressler and Casey Leonard. Rachel Lipman is also serving as a producer, with Kellie Smith set as a line producer.

The original Rugrats was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, and Paul Germain. It debuted 30 years ago in 1991 and was in production for nine seasons. Due to its popularity, it spawned off a film trilogy as well as a sequel series titled All Grown Up!, which featured the toddlers in their teens.
