Additionally, the series creator, writer, and co-director revealed during a virtual watch party for The Suicide Squad on Monday night that Nathan Fillion’s T.D.K. may not be as dead as fans assumed. In a tweet, Gunn explained: “Important to note if you look at the life signals in the Comms hub TDK isn’t head.”

Could Fillion be reprising his character in the upcoming Peacemaker spinoff starring John Cena as the titular douchebag? Only time will tell.

Cena’s Peacemaker is a man who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it (as we saw in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad). Joining Cena in the series is Steve Agee as John Economos, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante/Adrian Chase, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn. It will also include Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang, Christoper Heyerdahl, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, Rizwan Manji,  Nhut Le, Aison Araya, and Lenny Jacobson.

Based on the characters from DC, Peacemaker is written and created by Gunn, who directed multiple episodes. Executive producers are Gunn, Cena, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller. The 8-episode first season is expected to make its debut in January 2022.

The series is produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
