Jimmi Simpson and John Noble Join Cast of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Prodigy

Jimmi Simpson and John Noble are joining the cast of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Prodigy, according to a recent report from Deadline.

The two actors accompany Kate Mulgrew, Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, and Angus Imrie as cast members for the animated series. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and CBS Studios, Star Trek: Prodigy focuses on a crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating the galaxy. Aimed a younger audience, this Star Trek entry hopes to get even more people into a franchise that’s become legendary over time.

Noble will voice The Diviner, who Deadline describes as a “ruthless tyrant who controls the asteroid of Tars Lamora” while searching for the Protostar Ship. While doing so, the villain takes advantage of a “wayward species.” His goals are unknown, but he already has a successor in place named Gwyn that will be able to take on his mission in the future as he currently struggles with his dying body.

Simpson will portray Drednok, the “deadly robotic enforcer” of The Diviner and someone who is “heartless and cold” in his purpose to keep his partner’s eyes on findnig the Protostar Ship.

Star Trek: Prodigy is set to premiere later this year, although no concrete release information has been revealed as of yet.
